New Ethanol Plant Up and Running

The Louis Dreyfuss Commodities (LDC) Grand Junction ethanol plant went into operation in late April, a full month ahead of schedule. The new $178 million plant will produce 100 million gallons of ethanol and 300,000 tons of distillers grains annually.

The plant, which has been under construction since August 2007, is located 2 1/2 miles north of Grand Junction on Iowa Highway 144 adjacent to the Union Pacific (former CNW and M and St. L) railroad.

LDC Grand Junction officials says they chose Grand Junction for the site because of its location on U.S. Highway 30, its north-south and east-west access via the Union Pacific Railroad, and the abundance of corn grown in the area.

The LDC Grand Junction facility has 60 employees.
